Angeles Workshop School could very well be the largest little school in the world-- the entire city is part of our classroom!
Inspired by local legend Huell Howser, every week our entire school visits new and fascinating features of our city, working with professionals and community members that bring urban learning to life.
When our learners aren't out in the city engaging the civic community where it thrives, we are bringing its fascinating members to our school location.
Through frequent visits by Experts and Enthusiasts, our learners meet and work with an exciting range of speakers and collaborators. Artists, activists, entertainment professionals, faith leaders, scientists and educators share their life stories and collaborate with our learners.
Some recent Experts and Enthusiasts:
Every holiday season, our students write hundreds of cards through Just Detention International for incarcerated victims of abuse. Additionally, we have sponsored students with Children International, and maintained a micro-lending program through Kiva, having single-handedly funded many small business projects by women in developing nations.
Every month, all the students of Angeles Workshop School roll up their sleeves and make dozens of sandwiches for the homeless youth who visit Safe Place for Youth.
Angeles Workshop created and maintains a "Giving Shelf", an innovation that works much like a Little Free Library but offers much-needed items such as clothing, canned goods, and hygiene supplies to our local unhoused neighbors on a daily basis.
Angeles Workshop School accepts tax-deductible donations. Our fiscal sponsor is 501(c)(3) nonprofit Institute for Education, Research, and Scholarships (IFERS).
When you donate to Angeles Workshop, you are helping provide a profoundly unique and enriching education for our amazing students, the vast majority of whom cannot afford full tuition.
